Dartmoor Zoo
We donated electrical distribution boards that included circuit and surge protection, for Dartmoor Zoo, which has been made famous by the Hollywood film “We bought a zoo”

"Being provided with quality electrical products will allow us to improve our operation."
Dartmoor Zoo | Hager Energy Distribution
The zoo, formerly known as Dartmoor Wildlife Park, was purchased by the Mee family and following major refurbishment work, was reopened in July 2007 as Dartmoor Zoological Park. The story of this struggle has been featured in a book, a BBC documentary and the film. Receiving these electrical installations from us will help the organisation refurbish its buildings in order to meet the ISO 14001 standard.
Tim Steward, maintenance officer for Dartmoor Zoo, said, “We have been operating with second-hand products for years and now we really want to improve on all electrical installations in our building and begin a complete overhaul on all of our out-of-date technologies. Assistance from Hager in doing this is invaluable. Being provided with quality electrical products will allow us to improve our operation and help reach our goal of meeting the ISO 14001 standard.”
Our distribution boards will replace two ancient consumer units and will include RCBOs to protect individual circuits in addition to surge protection. Before these electrical installations, the zoo’s circuits were all protected by a single RCD so if it tripped the entire building’s electricity would be cut off.
