Teaming up with Ecologi
To offset its carbon footprint, Hager are investing in climate change projects across the world, with efforts focussed heavily on reforestation, renewable energy and the offsetting of COշe.
Hager strengthens its commitment to become climate positive with Ecologi
Hager has teamed up Ecologi, the B-Corp climate action platform, as the manufacturer strengths its commitment to creating a more sustainable future. Through its association with Ecologi, Hager are supporting with the planting of trees, creating thickets and woodlands in various locations across the globe, in addition to offsetting tonnes of COշe each year.
Founded in 2019 and with a community of nearly 40,000 businesses and individuals taking action against climate change, Ecologi supports the highest quality climate solutions around the world, from planting trees through trusted reforestation partners, to supporting a wide range of verified carbon avoidance projects. To date, Ecologi’s community of individuals and businesses have collectively funded the planting of over 58.1 million trees and avoided 2.4 million tonnes of COշe emissions, through supporting some of the best climate solutions throughout the world.
Enhancing biodiversity and naturally helping to restore ecosystems, planting trees is an assured nature-based solution to tackle the climate crisis. It is with this in mind that Hager have invested in one of many reforestation projects supported by Ecologi. Protecting the Tambopata-Bahuaja Biodiversity Reserve in Peru and preventing deforestation in the region, is just one of the environmental projects in which Hager is contributing to. During its 20 year lifespan, the project will prevent over 5,493,000 tonnes of COշe emissions entering the atmosphere.
"We all have a part to play in making the planet cleaner and more enjoyable - now and for future generations"
Hager’s donations have also seen resources invested in a wind power project in Thailand, converting wind energy into mechanical energy and subsequently transformed into electrical energy. Throughout its operation, the project will prevent 131,883 tonnes of COշe from entering the atmosphere each year. As standard, all Ecologi projects supporting carbon avoidance are certified by the Gold Standard or the Verified Carbon Standard and fundamentally aim to meet important sustainability and development standards such as CCBS and SD VISta.
Bruce Davies, Managing Director for Hager, comments: “We are excited about our collaboration with Ecologi. Sustainability sits at the heart of our commitment to shaping the future, not just here in the UK but for Hager Group globally, but we all have a part to play in making the planet cleaner and more enjoyable - now and for future generations. While this is just one small step towards tackling climate change, it is vital that we align ourselves leading organisations like Ecologi, utilising their expertise, so that together we can support environmental efforts and make them a reality.”
