Hager Sollysta

Hager has extended its popular Sollysta wiring accessories range, with the introduction of a new White Moulded and Part M USB A+C Twin Switched Socket.

Acknowledging the continued demand for in-home portable device charging, Hager’s trusted Sollysta range now includes a double pole twin switched socket that incorporates both a Type A and the emerging Type C USB port, with the two charging ports capable of delivering a total charging current of 3.1 Amps.

The addition of the USB Type C port is an exciting market development, and further extends the functionality of the Sollysta wiring accessories range.

With USB-C expected to eventually replace USB Types A and B, and Micro USBs, installing the new solution will future proof home wiring accessories as USB-C emerges as the common standard for charging and transferring data. USB-C ports are currently included in many new portable devices such as laptops, phones, and tablets. Smaller and thinner than their predecessors, the USB-C connector can be plugged in either way with no risk of damage.

Intelligent connection

The Sollysta 13A Twin Switched Socket with USB A+C ports has built-in intelligent connection, enabling the socket to identify itself as the dedicated primary charger for the connected device.  This provides maximum charging capacity and improvements to charging speeds as the device allows the socket to safely bypass its trickle/safety charging mode.

Like all options within the Sollysta range, the socket features the patented 3 pin safety shutter system and the double pole socket that switches both the live and neutral conductors to ensure safe isolation of the plugged-in device.

The USB-C function is initially available on the White Moulded and Part M ranges but will in time be extended across the entire Sollysta portfolio.

"Extending our Sollysta range through offering a Type C USB port, in addition to the Type A port, means the newly created twin switched socket supports the emerging standard for safe and speedy portable electronic device charging."

Dogan Dogan, Solution Manager for British Standard.

“As new devices appear on the market, USB-C is set to become the common USB port solution and homes that install the Sollysta twin switched socket with both Type A and Type C USB ports will be ideally placed to benefit from quicker and safer device charging outcomes.  The inclusion of intelligent connection functionality, overload protection, as well as the patented 3 pin safety shutter system, makes this an exciting and benefit-led addition to the high performing Sollysta range.”
