Wiring and Installation
Installation requirements may vary depending on the site specific conditions and wiring reference methods. Installations shall be in accordance with BS 7671 Section 722.
What protective device is required for the charger?
We recommend protecting the charger with a 40A Type A double-pole RCBO (for example, ADA940U/AD990U from Hager).
BS 7671 requires RCDs shall disconnect all live conductors.
What is the maximum conductor size the screwless terminals can accommodate?
10 mm²
What type of Earthing systems can it be installed on?
TN-S, TN-C, TT
What cable entry method is available?
The mounting plate of the charging station provides cable entry from top, bottom and rear
Can you limit the power of the witty charging station?
Yes, this can be done by the internal encoder wheel or via the Hager app
Does the witty charging station have dynamic load management ?
Yes, the charging station is supplied with a CT to monitor the buildings power consumption

Does the witty charging station have any protective device built in?
Yes. The witty charging station includes Integrated Residual Direct Current Detecting Device (RCD-DD) 6 mA and PEN fault detection device (OPDD).
Are pedestal options available for the witty charging station?
Pedestals are available to purchase separately as accessories:
XVA130 - Pedestal for 1 charging stations
XVA135 - Pedestal for 2 charging stations
How can load management be configured?
Load management can be configured using one of the following methods::
Encoder dial located on the rear of the front cover for static load management.
Hager Charge app for static load management.
Hager Charge app (using CT for dynamic load management).
Note: if multiple load management methods are configured, the charging station will apply the lowest current limit set across the available options.What does each LED indicator colour indicate?

General Questions
What colour options are available for the front cover?
The witty charging stations comes with a black cover as standard. White is available as an alternative. Custom colours are available on request, depending on the quantity and specific requirements.

Homeowner Guide
Can the witty charging station be used with scheduled charging or off-peak electricity tariffs?
Yes. Scheduled charging and off-peak tariff times can be set up using the Monta app. Alternatively, homeowners may be able to use scheduling through their electric vehicle or energy provider, depending on compatibility.
Why doesn't my charging station start charging immediately?
To comply with UK and Ireland smart charging regulations, the charging station may apply a random delay of up to 10 minutes before charging starts. This helps reduce demand on the electricity grid and supports a more balanced energy infrastructure.
Do I need to use scheduled charging or off-peak tariff times?
You can prevent unauthorised charging by enabling RFID authentication or using the Monta app to authorise charging sessions. Only approved users will be able to start a charge.
Can I charge my car using solar energy?
Yes. This can be enabled by the Monta app.
What is the process for enabling solar charging via Monta?
To enable this functionality, the supplied CT clamp must be installed on the incoming electrical supply. The system requires a minimum detected surplus of 1.4kW (6A) before Monta and the charging station can begin diverting excess generated power to your vehicle.
Please note that some electrical vehicles require a higher minimum charging rate of approximately 2.4 kW (11A) before they will accept and continue charging from the available surplus energy.
