Developer ORB Mechanical & Electrical was appointed by Balfour Beatty to deliver a complete electrical installation at 256 high-end apartments at a new Bristol neighbourhood, Wapping Wharf, located along the city's harbourside.

A combination of our product solution functionality and style, as well as a service to count on, has supported a new and high-end residential development in the heart of Bristol.

Seamless, stylish, practical

Working to a specification from the electrical installation contractor, we supplied our eye-catching Design 50 and Design 30 consumer units for the apartments. In addition, the project also saw the specification of wiring accessories, including twin sockets and light switches, together with innovative Sollysta media plate as part of a successful delivery and installation project.

For the most high-end apartments, the consumer units were specified to be recessed; this meant the Design 50 consumer unit, with its sleek and rounded flush profile, offered the project a high aesthetic standard and reliable functionality, easy access and straightforward installation. While the Design 30 consumer units were installed at the remaining properties

The ability to recess the units, meant the apartments achieved a seamless in situ finish, in keeping with the overall design vision for the project.

John Crane, sales engineer, explains: “The prestigious harbourside development had a design ambition that meant that all aspects of the luxury apartments were specified to a high level. The electrical contractors were looking for product solutions around the consumer units, wiring accessories and media plates that combined style, excellent and proven functionality, cost-effectiveness to help enhance the apartment interiors. Design 50’s flush and sleek rounded profile suited the project aims perfectly.”

We fulfilled the order for the large volume of Design 50 and Design 30 consumer units without any delay to ensure the installation schedule was met. With its easy installation design characteristics, the electrical contracting team said they found the units straightforward to work with, which helped maintain the construction timetable.

In addition to the consumer units, we also supplied all the required wiring accessories needed to furnish each apartment. Provided in a moulded white finish, the range of light switches and twin sockets matched the interior design perfectly.

And, with a need to ensure that each apartment owner would have sufficient electrical sockets and connection points to accommodate the growing range of electrical devices that require power or charging, the project has also incorporated our Sollysta media plates within each of the apartments. Situated discreetly, the attractive plate outlets can simultaneously accommodate numerous devices such as TVs, satellite boxes, broadband connections, and DVDs. The added benefit of being able to hide all the associated power cables helps provide an overall tidy appearance for the living spaces.
