Hager One Switch System wins iF DESIGN AWARD 2026

The Hager Switch and Socket System has been awarded the prestigious iF DESIGN AWARD 2026 in the category Product Design / Building Technology. The independent jury of international design experts recognized the system for its clear design language, high functionality, and sustainability elements.

Design that connects simplicity, performance and sustainability

“The idea behind the One Switch System stems from a desire to merge form and function in a way that ensures aesthetic consistency, efficient usability, technological adaptability, and a sustainable product life cycle. The four design lines are both visually and technically compatible with a single electro-mechanical platform, allowing us to meet a wide variety of user needs. These range from aesthetic preferences to user experience expectations, from the most basic use cases to the most sophisticated demands,” says Erwin van Handenhoven, Hager Design Studio Director.

The new Hager Switch System embodies a clear, minimalist design language that complements both contemporary and timeless interiors. Its geometric forms, expressed through four consistent design lines offer durability and aesthetic versatility.

The switch system combines the design heritage of Berker with the innovative strength of Hager and is based on a unified 55 mm platform. It offers high flexibility for both new builds and renovations – from classic mechanical switches to smart applications with Matter compatibility or KNX Secure pushbuttons. The aesthetics of the Hager switch system have been conceptualized by the Hager Design Studio in Obernai, France.

The jury particularly recognized the product across five key criteria:

  • Idea: A relevant and forward-looking solution for modern building environments
  • Form: Clear, intuitive design that engages users
  • Function: Ease of use and reliable performance
  • Differentiation: A distinctive design language reinforcing the Hager brand
  • Sustainability: Consideration of environmental and social impact

This balanced performance demonstrates Hager’s ability to translate complex technological requirements into simple, meaningful user experiences.

The system includes several design lines (A.1, C.1, A.8, C.8) with different shapes, sizes, and a wide range of colours and materials – from standard versions in black and white to premium finishes in glass or metal.
Thanks to backward compatibility with existing Berker installations, modernization is significantly simplified, as existing inserts can continue to be used. Digital tools such as the Style Hub design assistant, configurators, and planning software further support planning, configuration, and ordering, enabling a seamless digital customer journey.

Hager sets new benchmarks in sustainability

Frames and rockers of the standard A.1 and C.1 in white and black are made from 50% post-consumer recycled plastic, and the system is Cradle to Cradle Certified® Full Scope Bronze Version 4.1. The platform also reduces the number of components and optimizes production processes, lessening our environmental footprint and reflecting our long-term commitment to more responsible design.

Following the iF DESIGN AWARD Gold in 2025 for Hager Charge, a unique combination of the witty EV charging station and its companion mobile app, this latest achievement reinforces Hager’s long-term design vision and its position as one of the leading innovators in building technology. The iF DESIGN AWARD is one of the world’s most renowned design competitions, with over 10,000 submissions from 68 countries.
