Energy management at scale: EXPO REAL 2026 recap

From 5–7 October, Hager, E3/DC and advizeo by Hager welcomed visitors to their shared booth at EXPO REAL 2026 in Munich. As Europe's leading trade fair for real estate and investment, EXPO REAL brings together property owners, investors, asset managers, developers and facility managers to discuss the future of buildings and real estate portfolios.

Under the value proposition "Energy management at scale", the three brands showed how buildings and real estate portfolios can respond to electrification, stricter regulatory requirements and rising expectations around energy performance.

EXPO REAL at a glance

• 1.777 exhibitors from 37 countries

• 42.000 visitors from 74 countries

• 7 exhibition halls covering 76.000 m²

From building efficiency to portfolio performance

For many real estate organisations, the challenge is no longer limited to improving the performance of a single building. Increasingly, the focus is on understanding, comparing and optimising energy use across dozens or even hundreds of sites, and that starts with reliable data. Consistent, trustworthy data makes it possible to compare sites, identify where action is needed and track progress over time.

At EXPO REAL, advizeo by Hager showed how digitalised energy data creates this transparency. Its solutions connect buildings, monitor energy performance and support compliance with regulatory requirements, in particular under the German Energy Efficiency Act (EnEfG) and Building Modernisation Act (GModG).

Real estate professionals saw first-hand how this approach works for portfolios of any size, reflecting a broader shift from isolated efficiency measures towards portfolio-wide energy management.

Flexibility becomes a new energy asset

As electrification accelerates, buildings are becoming more than places where energy is consumed. They are increasingly able to generate, store and manage electricity themselves.

Against this backdrop, E3/DC highlighted the growing importance of energy flexibility. Featuring the qntm commercial storage solution as an example, the team discussed how battery storage can support load shifting, peak shaving and the integration of locally generated renewable energy.

The discussion extended beyond storage itself. The focus was on how flexibility can help buildings adapt to dynamic electricity prices, increasing renewable generation and evolving grid requirements — turning energy management into a strategic lever for both operational and financial performance.

Connecting the pieces

These developments depend on one essential foundation: the electrical infrastructure that connects and coordinates increasingly complex energy flows.

At the booth, Hager illustrated how electrical distribution, protection, e-mobility and energy management technologies work together to support modern energy ecosystems. As photovoltaic systems, heat pumps, charging infrastructure and storage solutions become more common, buildings require intelligent systems capable of managing energy safely, reliably and efficiently.

Rather than viewing these technologies in isolation, visitors were able to explore how they can interact as part of a connected and scalable energy architecture.

Three brands, one integrated approach

By bringing together Hager, advizeo by Hager and E3/DC, the booth offered a broader, more comprehensive version of the future of energy in buildings and real estate portfolios.

Whether the discussion started with electrical infrastructure, building performance, energy data or storage, the underlying theme remained the same: helping buildings use energy more intelligently, more flexibly and with greater transparency.

Thank you to everyone who visited our booth, shared their projects and exchanged ideas with our teams. We look forward to continuing the conversation.
