Hager is advancing circular economy practices with its MCB Commercial Platform range, in partnership with LATI

Hager takes a new step forward in its sustainable journey with its renewed MCB Commercial Platform product range - covering references complying with the IEC60947-2 standard from 10 A to 25 A - which incorporates recycled material developed in collaboration with its partner LATI. This marks the second milestone in Hager’s partnership with LATI to apply circular economy principles to protection devices.

Following the launch of our AFDD incorporating recycled plastic from the textile industry, the MCB Commercial Platform range - covering references complying with the IEC60947-2 standard from 10 A to 25 A - now integrates recycled plastic from both pre- and post-consumer waste, including - among other sources - fishing nets and carpets.
"This advanced material, produced through chemical recycling via depolymerisation, delivers performance equivalent to virgin plastic — without compromising product quality," explained Patricia Lamouche, Engineering Discipline Leader Materials at Hager.

This initiative supports Hager’s circular economy approach and contributes to the group’s Scope 3 decarbonisation pathway, aligning with Hager’s new brand claim: “Better Buildings, Better Tomorrows.” "Our MCB Commercial Platform is more than a product - it embodies Hager’s ambition to advance decarbonisation while delivering reliable, high-performance solutions for our customers. Last year alone, we sold millions of products, with the transition to recycled plastic implemented since September as part of our decarbonisation journey" says Frédérique Wiehle, Group Product Manager at Hager.

By substituting a portion of our plastic mass to recycled material, we estimate a potential reduction of around 32% CO₂ emissions per tonne of plastic material, compared with the virgin-material baseline. Based on current calculations, this could contribute up to an estimated 70 tCO₂e per year by 2030, supporting Hager’s Scope 3 decarbonisation pathway (purchased goods and services).

Our climate strategy: ambitious, measurable, actionable

Decarbonisation is at the core of Hager’s strategy. The group’s climate approach is structured around three pillars:

1. Strengthening resilience by decarbonising products and operations.*

2. Leveraging Hager’s energy management solutions to optimise performance and efficiency.

3. Enabling customers to scale the energy transition, generating measurable energy and CO₂ savings*

The Group aims to reduce its Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 50% and its Scope 3 GHG emissions by 25% by 2030, compared to 2021 levels.

  • Progress to date: a 20% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions since 2021, reflecting Hager’s strong commitment to decarbonisation.*
  • Scope 3: ongoing initiatives include sourcing recycled plastics for the MCB Commercial Platform, reducing upstream emissions from purchased goods.

“This is just one additional step in our sustainable journey — Hager continues to innovate with solutions to build better buildings, for better tomorrows” concludes Olivier Pradoura, Product Portfolio Vice President at Hager.
