FAQ - Energy distribution

How can we help you?

Do I need Surge Protection Devices (SPDs) in residential buildings?

Absolutely! Modern homes are filled with sensitive electronics that can be damaged by power surges. Installing SPDs ensures vital protection for TVs, routers, appliances, EV chargers, and more, keeping your devices safe and extending their lifespan.

How do I replace a Hager SPD once it stops working?

With Hager SPDs, replacing the entire unit is unnecessary! Our SPDs come with pluggable modules, enabling quick and hassle-free replacements—no need to disconnect any cables. Stay protected with convenience.

Do you offer different types of Molded Case Circuit Breakers (MCCBs)?

We offer a basic thermal magnetic version as well as a premium range with various options, including electronic and energy types. Hager MCCBs cover a wide current range, from 20A to 1600A, providing flexibility for different applications. You can choose between 2-pole, 3-pole, and 4-pole configurations to suit your needs.

What types of Residual Current Circuit Breakers (RCCBs) do you offer?

We offer a wide range of RCCB types tailored to different applications:
- Type AC: Detects only AC current, ideal for general-purpose use.
- Type A: Detects AC current and pulsating DC, suitable for equipment with electronic components.
- Type F: Provides the same detection as Type A but with added high-frequency residual current protection, perfect for equipment with frequency-controlled speed drives.
- Type B: Covers all features of Type F while also detecting smooth DC residual current, making it ideal for PV and EV projects.

Do I need to install an RCCB at home?

Yes, installing an RCCB in your home is essential for electrical safety. RCCBs safeguard against electric shocks and fire hazards by detecting leakage currents and immediately cutting off power. To ensure optimal protection, regular inspections and periodic testing are highly recommended.

When should I use a Residual Current Breaker with Overcurrent (RCBO) instead of an MCB + RCCB?

Choose an RCBO for individual circuit protection without sacrificing space! Ideal to be used for hospital applications, offices and industry under the certified electrical personnel advise and monitoring (eg: chargeman, technician etc..)

Can I retrofit Hager protection devices into an existing electrical panel?

Yes! Our modular protection devices are designed with standard DIN-rail mounting dimensions, ensuring compatibility with most standard distribution boards. For safety and compliance, always consult a licensed electrician before making any modifications.

What does fire retardant means for Hager products?

Fire-Retardant is the ability to slow down or prevent the spread of flames and fires. All Hager enclosures, switches and socket including MCB, RCCB and SPD is made from fire retardant material to ensure safety for the end user. This also signifiy the highest quality of product offered by Hager compared to others in the market.

Does the 10mA RCCB is a mandatory in Malaysia?

Yes, it is mandatory to install 10mA RCCB for water heater protection. This 10mA RCCB should be install at the distribution board and solely to be used for water heater protection against current leakage.
