Our new lighting control system with dual supply marshalling box has saved Winchester hospital both equipment and time during the electrical installation. 

The lighting solution provides sensors that will have both presence detection and also daylight linking in areas where there is some natural light and have just occupancy control in areas where there is none, such as corridors.

In addition, our dual supply marshalling box has saved Winchester hospital both equipment and time during the installation of essential and non-essential lighting circuits for its new 2000m2 outpatient’s clinic.
 
The new outpatient’s department will have a large open plan area plus a number of consulting and treatment rooms.

Using our Klik system dual linking marshalling box, both essential and non-essential lighting circuits can be fed from the same marshalling box and also be controlled by a single digital sensor and wall switch, instead of doubling up on equipment. 
 
The sensors will have both presence detection and also daylight linking in areas where there is some natural light and have just occupancy control in areas where there is none, such as corridors. All of the circuits are wired for semi-automatic control so that a wall switch can override them where needed.
 
Says Derek Hardy, an electrical engineer for Estates Design & Technical Services at the NHS: “Providing two lighting circuits in all of the rooms and corridors reduces the load on the essential supply if there is a mains outage. This allows the emergency generator infrastructure to be used for more essential services such as operating theatres."
 
“Achieving this configuration without a dual supply marshalling box would prove far harder. A conventionally wired system would involve two light switches and/or two sensors, one for each lighting circuit. Even if marshalling boxes were used you would still need to double up which involves extra expense and time.”
 
By using the new dual supply marshalling box if either supply is lost, the luminaires on the essential supply side will remain on. The occupancy sensor and other control are connected to the essential side of the unit.
